Marni Wieshofer is the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions at Media Rights Capital. In this capacity, Wieshofer is responsible for identifying and developing new entertainment ventures and strategic acquisitions for the company. Ms. Wieshofer is a seasoned entertainment industry executive with over twenty years of diversified corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and tax and accounting experience.
Prior to joining MRC, Ms. Wieshofer was the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Lionsgate. In that position, Ms. Wieshofer oversaw all facets of the company’s mergers, acquisitions and other strategic financial initiatives that contributed to Lionsgate reaching in excess of $1 billion in annual revenues. As the point person for acquisition targets, Ms. Wieshofer was responsible for overseeing the due diligence process, as well as negotiations of the purchase agreement and design of the tax structure.
During her tenure at Lionsgate from 1999 to 2007, Ms. Wieshofer orchestrated the acquisitions, and facilitated the integration of Trimark Pictures, Artisan Entertainment, Redbus Films Distribution U.K., Debmar/Mercury, Break.com and Mandate Pictures as well as the sale of Lionsgate Studios. Prior to serving as Executive Vice President, Ms. Wieshofer was Lionsgate’s Chief Financial Officer where she helped structure, negotiate and close a $200 million JP Morgan/Chase-led revolving credit facility in September 2000 as well as various other debt and equity offerings.
From 1995 to 1999, Wieshofer worked as the Vice President of Finance at Alliance Atlantis Communications Corporation, a creator and distributor of filmed entertainment with ownership interests in seven operating channels. At Alliance Atlantis, Wieshofer was a member of the deal team that facilitated the Alliance Atlantis merger, took Alliance public in the United States and orchestrated several debt and warrants offerings.
Prior to becoming an entertainment industry executive, Ms. Wieshofer was a Principal at Coopers & Lybrand Chartered Accountants.
Ms. Wieshofer holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario. She became a Canadian Chartered Accountant in 1986. Ms. Wieshofer taught business and accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at the University of Toronto and York University and has lectured at the Ontario School of Accountancy.
